date night.
Completely mystified by the ambiance, we ended up at Boda (of Bangkok Thai fame) for dinner. We asked to be seated outside in the very small and intimate, but very public to Congress St, patio. The menus were tucked into two hinged planks. Swanky. I ordered a glass of Reisling and Jonesy tried the Thai beer. Both were light and fruitful and fairly priced.
The Congress Street traffic and the front row seats to the patrons of video expo wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned for Jonesy and I’s big date out so we moved inside to the upper area right in the window that offered the same urban atmosphere without the noise of might King Congress and offered the romantic lighting of Boda. Unlike Pom’s Thai, Boda has a very short menu. Most the dishes I had never heard of before but knowing that I was in Bangkok Thai and the same people crafted Green Elephant, I knew I was in good hands. It was just a matter of how adventurous I was feelings.
I am a creature of habit and as much as I try and branch of from Thai noodle dishes I just cant seem to help but constantly order similar dishes and compare them. Jonesy got the “Pat Thai” which was a traditional pad thai with an odd twist. it was an omlette. For those of you who know me, you know that I am a sucker for a good omlette and the Pat Thai omlette didn’t disapoint. Creative, fun and delicious. The plating of the food was also a treat for the eye with compartment condiment trays, crushed peanuts and a mound of sprouts. I ordered the Suki which was a fresh medley of veggies and spices served in a grand metal bowl. It was delicious but it was also probably one of the safest things on the menu. In hind sight I wish I had tried one of the more elaborate dishes. but after it was all said and done it was a delicious meal and it cost less than 50$.

Today I got lucky. Firstly, I didn’t have to the bakery. Secondly, it was a gorgeous day and I took a lovely little Sunday stroll downtown with my digital camera.

out with the old and in with the new.
So like most new couples, you find yourself doing things that you wouldn’t ordinarily do. For me, riding a bicycle is pretty much an indicator that hell must be freezing over soon. For those of you who know me well just the image of me riding a bicycle should induce a light chuckle. So i acquired this bicycle from my mother whom i have yet to witness riding a bicycle. The bike is heavy and the seat large and soft. i cant get it up hills, i’ve been thrown from it trying to cross railroad tracks which caused some ‘cosmetic damage’. I must admit i do enjoy the ease of riding opposed to walking but i must admit this bicycle had turned into the bane of my existence. Luckily last weekend was the Maine bike swap. Mr Jonesy told me about it before i fell asleep and suggested i take the bike and try and sell it. Because selling the bike involved riding the bike to the USM campus i think Mr. Jonesy was a bit surprised when he arrived at the sale later in the morning to see my ‘hog’ sitting with the rest of the hybrid old lady bikes. We hung around the bike swap for most of the morning and afternoon and right when we were ready to leave out came this dame with my ‘hog’. Mr Jonesy chased after her and got this picture and a collection of other momma ass shots. so for now its just me and my two feet and the great town of portland.
